The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association in their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admissions to the Member Institutions, have formed "Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” COMEDK,

COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a Common Entrance Test for the academic year 2009-2010, for candidates aspiring to pursue Under Graduate courses Medical and Engineering Colleges in the State of Karnataka, in member institutions of the Consortium (Medical and Engineering Colleges).
In accordance with the consensual agreement between the Government of Karnataka and Karnataka Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association (KPMDCA) this year 2009-2010 for admission to BDS there will be no Common Entrance Test. However centralised counseling will be conducted based on rank list prepared. Rank list will be on the basis of aggregate marks of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in the qualifying examination (2nd PUC/12th Standard or any other equivalent examination recognized by State / Central Government).
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralised counseling (Single window system). The details will be publicised in due course on our website, http://www.comedk.org.
The list of the Member Institutions who have indicated that they are participating in the COMEDK testing program, along with the courses offered by them, is published in this brochure, and also on website http://www.comedk.org
Applicants are advised to read the brochure thoroughly and familiarise themselves with the test procedures.

MBBS:
General Merit Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination which is
2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject and must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB. In addition, in the Common Entrance Test, must have secured not less than 50% marks in PCB.
SC, ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka should have passed the qualifying
examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject and must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks taken together in PCB. In addition, in the Common Entrance Test, must have secured not less than 40% marks in PCB. Candidates should have attained the age of 17 years as on 31/12/2008.

BDS:
General Merit candidates should have passed qualifying exam which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent exam recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject must have passed the subject and individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB. Candidates should have attained the age of 17 years as on 31/12/2008. There is no Common Entrance Test for admission during the year 2009-2010.
SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka a minimum of 40% of marks taken together in PCB. All other requirements are same as applicable for General Merit candidates.

  • Ensure that the Demand Draft for Rs.650/-(Rupees six hundred fifty only) if you intend to appear for MBBS (PCB) or B.E(PCM) and Rs.850/- (Rupees eight hundred fifty only) for MBBS and B.E(PCMB) Demand Draft to be kept ready before filling up
  • the Online Application form, as you will have to enter the Demand Draft details.
  • The Online application form has to be filled up properly and completely.
  • Take a print of the filled in Application form and Date of Birth Certificate/Identity Proof (Two Copies : 1) Candidate Copy and 2) COMEDK Copy).
  • The Application form is said to be complete only if it is enclosed with all the
  • documents and posted to COMEDK office.
  • Multiple application forms filled and received from the same candidate will
  • result in confusion and may result in disqualification.
  • Multiple Demand Drafts in excess of the prescribed fee (Rs. 650/- or Rs. 850/-)
  • if sent by the candidate will not be refunded.
  • Non refundable fee for taking COMEDK UGET-2009 and attending centralized counseling if eligible is (Rs. 650/- or Rs. 850/-)
  • If Demand Draft is not enclosed the application will be rejected.

Note: The recent passport size photographs to be provided have to be identical. It should not be more than 6 months old. Application with smudged/tampered or hazy photograph will not be accepted. Any application received not adhering to these specifications will be rejected without any clarifications and no refund will be made. The decision of the COMEDK Committee on this would be final and binding.

pattern of examination:
A single test combining Physics and Chemistry subjects will be held on Sunday the
17/05/2009 in the Forenoon Session (10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon). There will be a
total of 120 questions: 60 questions in Physics and 60 questions in Chemistry. The
test duration for combined paper is 120 minutes, and is compulsory for all candidates seeking admissions to M.B.B.S. and B.E courses

Biology and Mathematics tests will be held on the same day 17/05/2009 in the
Afternoon Session separately, with each subject having 60 questions with
duration of 60 minutes. Candidates are free to choose any one or both the subjects. Biology Test will be conducted from (2.00 PM to 3.00PM) followed by
Mathematics test from (3.30 PM to 4.30 PM)

However, in the event of a tie in score the principle of least negative responses

THE APPLICATION PROCESS:

Obtaining prospectus and application forms:
Application forms can be accessed on-line through the College website on http://home.cmcvellore.ac.in and submitted with a basic administrative fee of Rs 500/-. Application forms are available by post from the Office of the Registrar on payment of Rs.500/-. Applications are also available at selected Head Post Offices throughout India (check below for detailed list of post offices)
Money can be remitted using any of the following methods:
(1) As a chalan at no extra cost at any branch of ICICI bank in India. Please mention FC-CMC-V on the chalan.
(2) Demand draft in favour of “C.M.C. Vellore Association a/c” on any scheduled bank, payable in Vellore.
Send the DD, original payment Chalan or receipt to: Office of the Registrar, CMC, Thorapadi PO, Vellore - 632 002. State your full postal address with Pin-code. Mention your telephone number and email address if available. No additional money, stamps or envelopes are required.

Candidates should have passed in all subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other equivalent examination in one and the same attempt in the subjects. BEFORE SENDING FILLED FORMS:

1. It is the responsibility of the candidate to read these instructions and to ensure completeness of the Application forms. An incomplete form or an application filled in a language other than English will be summarily rejected.
2. Completed application forms along with relevant enclosures and Registration fee as detailed below should reach the Office of the Registrar not later than the last date specified, even if qualifying examination results are not available by that date.
3. Please note that a separate ‘Registration Fee’ for each course will have to be paid when the filled application is sent for registration. This is the same for both on-line and paper applications. When applying on-line, the application administrative fee of Rs 500 will also be included. (A fee of Rs 500 has already been charged when getting the paper forms). The procedure for all payments can only be one of those mentioned on above.
4. Registration Fee: The following registration fees must be enclosed with the completed application form.

Group B courses:

5. Please note the application number on your forms. Quote this for any enquiry that you may have and when communicating in all further correspondence with the Registrar’s Office.
6. When applying for more than one course: Candidates must list the courses in the order of preference in the application form. Use course codes as on pages 2-6 of this bulletin.
7. Photograph: A colour passport size photograph taken after 1st February this year should accompany each application. The photograph should show the face in full. Paste the photograph in the space provided on the Application form. Please do not staple or pin the photograph.
8. Other enclosures: Where applicable, enclose:
a. Copy (not original) of Community/caste certificate, duly signed by Dy.Tahsildar or District
Magistrate.
b. Application form for Undergraduate College Sponsorship for Christians category along with required enclosures/certificates

Enclosures may be sent separately provided the Application number is clearly mentioned. Enclosures received without this number or after the last date will not be accepted. Academic or extra curricular certificates should not be enclosed
9. For those applying on paper - Please include the following:
a. Acknowledgement card with the candidate’s address and Rs.6 postal stamp affixed.
After preliminary scrutiny, the acknowledgement card will be returned to the candidate.
b. Window envelope with Rs.5 postal stamp affixed.

exam pattern:

The admission tests are all in English and of the ‘objective’ or multiple choice answer type (see
examples at the end). There will be many questions printed in the test booklet. Each question will have five possible answers printed after it. Your task will be to select the one best answer to each question. There will be ONLY ONE CORRECT ANSWER to each question. For the mbbs there are 60 questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (120 mins total) and 120 questions in General Ability including Speed and Accuracy and a few questions on issues of current topical interest (70 mins). The whole exam is 3 hrs 10 mins. long. no negative marking.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MBBS Course at JIPMER:

(i) The Applicant should be a Resident Indian National.
(ii) The Applicant should have studied and completed their course in the schools located in India in the preceding two years (except for those admitted against the seats reserved for foreign students nominated by the Government of India).
(iii) He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2009, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S., i.e. they should have been born on or before 01-01-1993, and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.
(This criterion will be applicable also to candidates nominated by the Government of India. Request for relaxation from the prescribed age limit will not be considered for any category of applicants).
(iv) The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:
(a) The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botony and Zoology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education and
(b) The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology at the qualifying examination. For Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates, the minimum marks in the qualifying examination will be 40%.
Annexure - I lists the examinations recognized by JIPMER
(c) The Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure - I will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate from the JIPMER before admission is finalised. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from the JIPMER is essential to foreign nationals nominated by the Central Government for admission to JIPMER M.B.B.S. Course.

The Application Procedure – How to Obtain? :
(i) The Prospectus with the Application Forms can be obtained against only cash payment of Rs.750/- for Unreserved/Other Backward Classes Category (UR/OBC/P-UR/P-OBC)) and Rs.500/- for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Category (SC/ST/P-SC) from State Bank of India, JIPMER Campus, Pondicherry-605006 on all working days up to 15th April, 2009, Wednesday. This includes cost of Prospectus as well as Non-Refundable Examination Fee. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
State Bank of India, JIPMER Campus at JIPMER is the only branch where the applications are sold against cash payment. The bank timings when the applications will be available are 10.00 am to 04.00 pm on all working days (Monday to Friday) and from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon on Saturdays. No request for issue will be entertained after these stipulated hours.
THE STATE BANK OF INDIA WILL NOT SEND THE PROSPECTUS BY POST; HENCE NO REQUEST SHOULD BE MADE TO THE BANK FOR SENDING THE SAME BY POST.
(ii) The Prospectus and Application Forms can also be had from Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry - 605 006 up to 8th April, 2009 through Postal requests, accompanied by a M.I.C.R. Bank Draft of Rs.750/- (Unreserved/OBC) and Rs.500/- (SC/ST) drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, JIPMER” payable at any Nationalized Banks in Pondicherry Union Territory. 13cm x 7 cm self addressed label must accompany the postal request for correct delivery of the Application Forms
(iii) On-line Applications: JIPMER MBBS 2009 application can be submitted by On-Line process (Internet based) by accessing the Website: www.jipmer.edu.in link from 25-02-2009 to 08-04-2009. The candidate should first pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs.750/- (Unreserved/OBC) and Rs.500/- (SC/ST) by obtaining a Demand Draft as mentioned above. The draft details are required while filling up on-line form. Candidates are required to take a print of a single on-line application form after successful submission of data. The printed Form with the requisite signatures, photograph, attestations, left thumb print of the applicant and the demand draft must be sent by speed post so as to reach the Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry - 605 006 by 15th April, 2009. Attested copies of OBC/SC/ST certificates, Medical Certificate in support of disability must be enclosed with the Application Form wherever applicable. Failure to enclose these certificates will render the completed applications (both off-line and on-line) ineligible for Entrance Examination

Founded in 1823 by French Government, taken over by Government of India (GOI) in 1956 and upgraded to a Postgraduate Institution in 1964, an Act of Parliament in 2008 declared Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) as “An Institution of National Importance”.

ELIGIBILITY

(A) For admission to First Year Bachelor programme in
(i) Engineering/Technology Pass or appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and one from Chemistry/ Computer Science/Biology/ Biotechnology or pass in 10+3 diploma course in engineering including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&T, Orissa orequivalent.
(ii) Pharmacy Pass or appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics and Chemistry and one from Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science /Biology or pass in 10+3 diploma course in Pharmacy including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&T, Orissa or equivalent.
(iii) MBBS/BDS Pass or appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least 50% marks in aggregate in these subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST) with age between 17 and 25 years as on 31.12.2009 (relaxable up to 3 years for SC/ST candidates).


(B) For admission to First Year Master programme in
(i) Computer Application (MCA) Pass or appearing in 2009 three years Bachelor's Degree examination in any discipline with pass in Mathematics at 10+2 level
(ii) Business Administration (MBA) Pass or appearing in 2009 three years Bachelor's Degree examination in any discipline from a UGC recognized University


(C) For admission to Second Year Engineering/Technology and Pharmacy under Lateral Entry
Pass or appearing in 3 years diploma course in Engineering and Pharmacy with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&VT, Orissa or equivalent


(D) For admission to Second Year Engineering/Technology under Lateral Entry
Pass or appearing in 2009, for the Bachelor's Degree examination of three years duration in Science from any University of Orissa or equivalent recognised by UGC and have passed with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate(First Division) with Mathematics at +3 level


(E) For admission to Second Year Pharmacy under Lateral Entry
Pass or appearing in 2009, for the Bachelor's Degree examination of three years duration in Science from any University of Orissa or equivalent recognised by UGC and have passed with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate ( First Division) with Biology at +3 level.
The ratio of distribution of seats under lateral entryfor Diploma : B. Sc. is 80:20

The percentage of seats to be reserved for different categories is subject to change and the decision of the State Government as on the date of admission will be applicable.

The Delhi University Medical-Dental Entrance Test (DUMET) for admission to
Under-Graduate courses, i.e. MBBS and BDS will be held on Sunday, 17th May 2009 at Delhi. Interested candidates may apply on the prescribed application form.

The application form alongwith Bulletin of Information (BOI) is obtainable from the office of the
Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Medical Sciences, 6th Floor, V. P. Chest Institute Building, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007, against a Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque drawn on any Nationalised Bank in favour of ‘Registrar, University of Delhi’ payable at Delhi, in the following manner:
(i) By hand for Rs. 550.00 (Rupees Five Hundred Fifty only) between 10:00 A.M. to 03:00 P.M.
on all working days from 27th February, 2009 to 02nd April, 2009.
(ii) By Post for Rs. 600.00 (Rupees Six hundred only) along with a self addressed envelope of
10” x 8” upto 17th March, 2009.
(iii) BOI is not available against “Cash Payment”.

Educational Qualification for admission to MBBS/BDS course: The candidates must have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system with required subjects, i.e. Physics,
Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognised school conducting regular classes and situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The candidates must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST category and 45% marks in case of OBC category) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The candidates must have studied 11th and 12th classes regularly from a recognised school situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
Female candidates belonging to Schedule Caste (SC)/Schedule Tribe (ST)/Children, Widows & Wives of Armed & Para Military Personnel (CWWAPP) category who have passed qualifying examination from Indian Boards/Universities or Foreign Boards/Universities may also apply for admission to Lady Hardinge Medical College. The condition of studying 11th and 12th class from a school situated with in the National Capital Territory of Delhi shall not be applicable to these candidates.
Note: (i) The Physically Handicapped candidates having disability of lower limbs from 50% to 70% are eligible and may apply as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.
(ii) In the event of all the seats reserved for PH category not being filled up from among the Physically Handicapped candidates with the above stipulated physical disability then the seats will be offered to the candidates within the physically disability of 40% to 50%.

St. John's Medical College offers graduate, postgraduate, diploma and super specialty degrees recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, Karnataka.
